Tour Break
Back in Dublin’s fair city.
I cannot believe how fast the first leg of the 2011 Heritage Tour has gone. I have to say it has been such a great time had by all. The biggest crowds we have ever had and amazing atmospheres in the packed out venues.
I am sitting here in my house in silence reflecting on our last show in Denver singing “Ireland’s Call” along with George, Ryan, Keith, Emmet, Daniel and four thousand screaming CT fans, smiles on everybody’s faces as we all stand together and celebrate not only a fantastic show but a super tour.
It always seems to take me a week at least to adapt to home, sometimes waking in the morning thinking I am on the tour bus or a hotel room. It really has become a way of life and a life I feel blessed to lead.
I have been overwhelmed by the response to my new venture “Pale blue Jak”!
The support has been amazing and I am so grateful to all of the Pale blue Jak followers.
In fact with the launch of PBJ going so well the first thing I did on my return to Ireland was to get straight back into writing more compositions and ideas.
Coming back home to Ireland is always great, as I do miss spending time with my family.
For the first time in five years I will be home for my birthday, so a night out has been arranged with all my folks, bit of a novelty, it makes up for the age difference!!
I have to say I miss the CT family even though we spent the last few months living together, but you know how amazing they all are…I think that’s what makes light work of a tough itinerary.
One of the highlights for me when I come home is driving my car through the Dublin/Wicklow mountains… no traffic, no sound, no music just me and my thoughts, usually reflecting on the shows, the road, the crowds, the laughs, the hurdles and wondering where the last few months had gone. The contrast can be quite surreal, touring life and home life… how lucky am I to have both, something I love so dearly.
I will be back on the road in a matter of days to continue what I love to do the most and hope to see those wonderful smiling faces enjoying the CT spirit.
Nothing lasts forever but I hope it will be many moons away till I can only call it
“A Life I Once Had”

Hi,
I have to tweet you here for a while, we had an Avalanche here last week, my twitter went with it. Sky is the most beautiful blue today and the snow does sparkle like diamonds. Wish I could scope them up, then I could retire early……….
Cheers.

Hey Neil,
Love the blog, it is always great to hear from you. Glad that you are getting to spend time with your family before you go back on tour.
I love the album. “Faces” is so wonderful to listen to. I listen to it almost everyday. It has so many great songs that I could not pick a favorite.
Glad to hear that you are finding time to write while you are at home but don’t spend all your time working, save some time for yourself.
Keep up the great work, you are awesome!
Have A Very Happy Birthday!
Love, Hugs and God Bless,
Kim

I couldn’t imagine the long days away from home; I live in a tiny town that’s about half a person away from being a village and my family is absolutely everything to me. It takes a really special type of strong to be able to keep your head up and enjoy the days spent away from it all. It’s a little strange to say, but CT fans are a family fan base unlike any other fan base I’ve ever had the honor to be a part of. Each fan adopts every member of CT and every other fan they meet into their own personal families and accepts them like a lifelong friend. It’s not about the blood relation or history together, it’s about the passion of the music and the common love. It may sound a little cliche or corny, but I can safely say that if I were to pick up and move suddenly to anywhere in the country, that I would always have family around me because there are thunderheads everywhere. We’re like the creepy killer in the horror movie; at all places at all times. I like to think that’s how the members of CT feel as well; even if some of us fans can be a little overbearing and annoying. So, no matter where you’re at, I’d like to say…Welcome Home.

So kind of you to spend some of your precious at-home time writing for us! I had the privilege of being at the Houston show. You guys really rocked it! And afterward at the buses we saw how gracious and generous you all are to put up with a mob of fans. Thanks for your patience. As I told you that night when you signed my copy of PBJ “Faces,” there simply are no words to tell you how much your album means to me. Several of the songs really hit me where I live, and there were tears, but good tears. Others made me want to dance and sing along. I love your style of story songs! Keep up the wonderful work. You are appreciated…

Great blog as always. Thanks for the update Neil. Enjoy your time at home with friends and family, soon you’ll be back on the road. And heading to Dallas… eventually.
I’m looking forward to the last concert of the tour.
Even folks from Europe will be there… my Dutch friends Atie and Janneke will be flying in from Holland to join me at the concert.
Take care, see you soon,
hugs,

Hello Neil,
So glad to hear that you are balancing everything so well and that you are enjoying your journey! As you stated you are a very blessed individual but also well deserved. You are always so busy which leads me to believe that you are a hard worker and everyone knows how very talented you are, those two things combined equal success…. So good job, keep up the great work because you have a lot of fans that want to see you do well and succeed for many, many years to come also. I am really digging the new album “Faces” and can’t wait to see what Pale blue Jak puts out next.
You are always so thoughtful with keeping us fans in mind… Thank you for a little glimpse into your world. “People may not remember exactly what you did, or what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel.” (author unknown).

A blessed year and birthday, you fill many lives with some of God’s sweetest blessings, your voice your words, you genuine giving to others. Even though we heard you were not well, you show in Denver was unspeakable, hope you are feeling fit and strong now…… we hope to get to go to the last show in Dallas and finish the year with that joy. So good to hear how dear your own families are to you, I do believe that is what brings the actual heart and soul with your together efforts in Celtic Thunder, I can hear how you treasure them all. You are such evidence of what God wants to share from those to which He gives such talent and skill, and these wonderful gifts of music and heart make it a true blessing. Thanks for the timely and heartfelt blogging you do, enjoy each moment of your time at home and then when you return to America we will be waiting to embrace your gifts and share them with those we love too, just like you. I hope you realize by your humble ways and gifts that you comfort and heal many lives. God bless you and all those you love. We keep you in our prayers.

Neil, Thanks for that beautiful and touching blog. Enjoy your family and the joy of being there on your BD,Nov.16. Happy Birthday!!! My family and I have driven through the Dublin/Wicklow mountains and have felt the peacefulness and beauty of the drive. Darian and I were at the Atlanta Concert. She gave you a gold sharpie to sign autographs and then we borrowed it back to get Ryan’s autograph and when she turned abound to give it back to you, you had left. She has been so concerned that she didn’t get it back to you that she is sending you two new ones to your PO Box. You will probably get it when you go home for Christmas(she decided she would keep the old one since you had used it to sign her’s first). Hope you took the Moonshine Jelly home to your family. Tell Sharon to please have a concert in Knoxville, Tennessee. We have the perfect venue and also Ryan would get to see the U of Tn stadium that Peyton(Colts)played his college FB in. Also, We have beautiful (The Great Smokey) Mountains that if you lads had an off day could enjoy. Give your family lots of Hugs before you head back. Luv & Hugs from Darian and me. You are definitely our favorite!! Dorothy and Darian

It must have taken a few days for the adrenaline rush of the first part of the tour to back down so you could actually relax. I think part of the enthusiasm of the crowds has to do with seeing all of you up on the stage having such a great time. It was wonderful seeing you step forward this year to sing a few more solos. Then again, your segment of Seven Drunken Nights was too funny! Really showing off what you’ve got!
I’ve taken that drive though the Wicklow Mountains and can really relate to what you are saying about their quiet beauty. Nice place to turn it all off and just enjoy and think about things.
I hope you have a wonderful birthday celebration at home this year and a great finish to the end of the tour.
Thanks for keeping in touch with us all. And sharing the wonderful music you make.

So wonderful hearing from you; thanks for taking the time! The CT site is rather quiet now during the tour break and look forward to it getting busy once again in a few days. Happy you’re enjoying your quiet down time in your peaceful, quiet surroundings and spending fun times with your family and friends! Happy also that you are making more beautiful music. We have so many fabulous cd’s to enjoy right now thanks to you and all of CT; sometimes it’s difficult to choose which one. You are all so unique and special in your musical styles. Just hope you keep it coming and, yes, that we will have the delight of seeing and hearing you w/CT for a LONG time to come! Thanks, Neil!

It’s always great to read something new from you. I spent my long drive in to work listening to PBJ as I always do. I think you’ve discovered the cure for Atlanta traffic! I’m glad you’re enjoying a break at home and I hope you have a wonderful birthday tomorrow. I’m such a big fan of yours that my friends and family think I’m obsessed…of course I’m not…okay well, maybe a little. But I do love your music…..your voice is amazing and I can’t wait for more to come,
I actually ordered a second PBJ cd because I’m afraid something could happen to the original and I might be without it for a week!

Please take care, relax and enjoy this time.

I’m home sick today with a bad cold (crazy Indiana weather) so it was a joy to read your message. We got tickets for CT in Ohio but found out a few weeks before the show that they were oversold. So…we got tickets for St. Louis (five hour drive there and five hours back!) What Fun! It was worth it! (No Starbucks open on the mid-night drive back so–no coffee)
I’m glad you enjoy touring because you add such a spark to life.
Hope you have a fantastic birthday. Linda
