What started out as Celtic Thunder’s Ryan Kelly and Neil Byrne performing a live show together called “Acoustic by Candlelight” has now developed into an album called “Acoustically Irish”.
Crossing traditional Irish music with Americana sounds and many World music influences, this album contains both classic tunes and some contemporary ones too – seamlessly reworked into a fresh sound. At the core of this album are Ryan and Neil’s vocal harmonies.
The songs on “Acoustically Irish” were all carefully chosen and embrace Celtic and Irish sounds, ranging from “The Fields of Athenry”, “The Rose of Allendale” and “The Water is Wide” to the Hothouse Flower’s “Don’t Go”, Van Morrison’s “Brown Eyed Girl” and Paddy Casey’s “Saints and Sinners” – amongst many others.
“Neil Byrne and Ryan Kelly – Acoustically Irish” will be released on October 1st 2013, with pre-ordering from September 16th 2013.

April showers is right… it’s lashing rain, another good day to work on some up and coming “Pale blue Jak” compositions… now is the time because come May 6th myself and Ryan will make our way to Dublin airport to fly to the Big Apple to start another of our acoustic tours. It has been an exciting time putting together our own travel plans, venues, hotels etc even though a bit stressful sometimes. Everybody has been so helpful posting up and emailing venue recommendations, thank you so much for that, it has helped no end…
The only problem myself and Ryan have been left with is that we cannot get to every place that has been suggested. We will be starting our venture and finishing on the East Coast of America due to some promotional interviews. We have made provisional plans to tour the West and South US and also Canada between CT tours, plus we would really like to take in some parts of Europe and even Australia if possible. We really want to give everyone a chance to get to a gig.
Last night I sat up late reading letters and cards sent from all over the world to my PO Box. I can’t begin to tell you all how appreciative I am of your support… because of the large volume of mail it is pretty impossible to write back with the time given but just to let you know that I do read everything and I know the rest of the guys do too.
Mr John will be uploading more post box videos as we go.
Well guys, it has stopped raining, the sun has come out, I think I’ll get a stroll in the park before getting back to the recording, I can always hear things much clearer on my return, but sure isn’t that the same for everything
Ryan Kelly wrote “We’ll be doing an intimate night of acoustic music by candlelight. I’ll be performing music off my album, “In Time”, Neil will share songs from “Pale blue Jak – Faces”, we’ll do some Celtic Thunder tunes, and even have a few surprises for you! We’ll, of course, take time out to chat and sign autographs as well!”
“We have two confirmed gigs as of right now, and are working on at least one more. Those that are confirmed are listed below, and we’ll let you know as soon as we have more dates and times. As we don’t have a lot of time to get the word out about the gigs, I’ve also put up flyers on my forum -in News and Information- that you can print and share if you live in or around one of the cities we’ll be appearing in, we need you all to come and see us!! I mean, we’d hate to just sit and sing to each other for 90 minutes!! ; )”
“So, tell your friends, bring everyone you know, maybe even those you see on the street before you come in, and join us for a great night of music and craic!”
