Deadly

Deadly tells the story of Boney, a working stiff in a dead-end job. That is until he has a run-in with a spirited old lady named Bridie…

Written and directed by Aidan McAteer (Wildernuts, Abadas, Peppa Pig) and produced by Shannon George (Wildernuts, Boj, Blue’s Clues) for Kavaleer, this charming tale of a grim reaper who works for the council was made under the IFB’s Frameworks Scheme funded by the the Irish Film Board, RTE and the Arts Council.

Academy-award winning actress Brenda Fricker and Love/Hate star Peter Coonan lend their voices to Bridie and Boney respectively, to bring these wonderful 2D animated characters to life. The film’s beautiful score was composed and performed by Celtic Thunder members Neil Byrne and David Munro.

In Echoes: The Story, the duo takes you to some of the most beautiful and iconic spots on the Emerald Isle that were the inspiration behind many of the songs on the album.

The film also intertwines interviews with both Neil and Ryan as they discuss the songwriting stories behind the music, their personal influences and journeys as musicians.

In 2017, Echoes: The Story  was chosen as an official selection in the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival and awarded 'Best Original Soundtrack' and 'Best Music Documentary' at the World Music and Independent Film Festival in 2018.  The film was also featured on several PBS stations across America. On March 13, 2020, as the world was realizing the seriousness of Covid19 and borders started closing, Byrne and Kelly cancelled all of their 2020 tour dates including the show that was kicking off the tour that evening in McKinney, TX. Just over a year later, the band was finally able to convene in Wexford, Ireland to labor on a new project that was promised to the fans. Join Byrne and Kelly at Wells House for a day full of convivial and genuine delight to be performing together once again. View Wells House here.
